Nubia Red Magic 5S Gaming Smartphone Launched With Snapdragon 865 SoC And 144Hz Display
Nubia Red Magic 5S, after Red Magic 5 G and Red Magic 5 G Lite, introduced as the newest competitor of the brand’s Red Magic group of gaming smartphones. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC comes with the latest edition. The mobile also sports an improved ICE 4.0 cooling system powered by a centrifugal fan with a speed of up to 15,000rpm. For improved gameplay experiences the Red Magic 5S comes with IC shoulder keys. You will also get triple rear cameras, with a main 64-megapixel sensor. Alternatively, the Red Magic 5S provides onboard capacity of up to 256 GB.

Nubia Red Magic 5S price has been set at CNY 3,799 (roughly Rs. 40,600) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, while its 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option is priced at CNY 4,399 (roughly Rs. 47,000) and the top-of-the-line 16GB RAM + 256GB storage model at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 53,400). There is also a dedicated Ice Dock cooling accessory that is priced at CNY 179 (roughly Rs. 1,900). The phone has an Ice Wind Silver colour option that isn’t available with the top-end model, whereas its Cyber Neon colour option is limited to the 12GB and 16GB RAM versions. All its configurations and colour options will go on sale in China starting August 1.
Nubia Red Magic 5S specifications
The Nubia Red Magic 5S dual-SIM (Nano) runs on Android 10 with Nubia UI (Color Magic OS) at its tip. The handset sports an AMOLED monitor with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 144Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch response time of 6.65-inch full-HD+ (1.080×2.340 pixels). The monitor also has TUV Rheinland certification, and automatic brightness adjustment setting up to 4,096 rates. The Red Magic 5S has the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC under the hood and has a top clock speed of 2.84GHz paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
The Nubia Red Magic 5S bears a similar triple rear camera configuration as on the Red Magic 5 G for images and videos. It has the 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main sensor along with an f/1.8 aperture, combined with an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle aperture of 120 degrees, and a 2-megapixel macro photographer. The handset also comes at the front with an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor.
The Red Magic 5S comes with UFS 3.1 capacity of up to 256 GB, but does not allow expansion with a microSD slot. Tools for networking include 5 G, 4 G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS / A-GPS, USB Type-C, and 3.5 mm headphone port. The Ice Dock also features a dedicated connector. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, a sensor for ambient light, a gyroscope, a magnetometer and a sensor for proximity. A fingerprint reader is also in-display.
Nubia has developed its patented ICE 4.0 method to minimize heat output by using a mixture of both thermal and air cooling. The handset has a centrifugal fan combined with a heat sink that is silver-plated. There is also a liquid cooling tube in L-shaped form to dissipate heat from specific components.
The Red Magic 5S packs a 4,500mAh battery which supports fast charging by 55W air-cooled. The handset likewise measures 168.56x78x9.75 mm and weights 220 grams.
