Amazon Launches Echo Show 21: A Wall-Mounted Smart Display with Enhanced Features
Amazon has introduced its largest smart display to date, the Echo Show 21, a wall-mounted device with significant upgrades in size, sound quality, and functionality. Boasting a 21-inch screen, it nearly doubles the viewing area of its predecessor, the Echo Show 15, which was launched two years ago. The Echo Show 15 has also been refreshed, featuring updated hardware while retaining its camera, audio, and smart home capabilities.
Echo Show 21: Features and Enhancements
The Echo Show 21 delivers an immersive audio experience, offering “double the bass” and room adaptation technology for optimized sound based on its environment. Its upgraded auto-framing camera significantly improves functionality, doubling the field of view and offering a 65% zoom increase compared to previous models.
Designed to function as more than just a smart display, the Echo Show 21 integrates as a smart home hub, compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, Thread, and Zigbee devices. This makes it easier for users to control devices like lights, plugs, and switches directly through the hub, even without internet connectivity.
Features Shared with Fire TV
Both the Echo Show 15 and 21 incorporate features from Amazon’s Fire TV, allowing them to double as entertainment hubs. These smart displays are compatible with the Fire TV remote, enabling users to stream content and control their media with the same remote used for their TV dongles.
Smart Home and Productivity Tools
On the home screen, users can customize widgets for tasks like calendars, shopping lists, and smart home controls. A new audio widget groups favorite music, enabling playback across multiple speakers with a single tap.
